Nick Matula recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire in the winter of 2015 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology. Nick hopes to apply knowledge obtained from courses in GIS and Unmanned Aerial Systems to Metallic and Non-metallic mining operations in hopes of expanding economic opportunity and resolving environmental problems.The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire created a Responsible Mining Program in 2014 to provide upcoming Geology majors with hands on work experience in the mining industry. Nick was offered the first responsible mining internship at Smart Sand inc. in the summer of 2014 an was also hired back as an intern in the summer of 2015. Nick was offered a full time position after his graduation, and now works as a Geologist at Smart Sand, Inc.
